This weekend there where the Joomla! days in the Netherlands. It was the first time for me that I went to such an event, and it was great. We had a great international lineup of speakers, as national speaker. I even was one of them. As Joomla! is an "Open Source" project where people share there input to the project, it seems a good event to share mine as wel.

I'm not a coder, so I can't share that(yet), but I can share my knowlidge. And sinds I know the program Artisteer for a long time, and #jd11nl didn't have anybody yet to give a nice DEMO. I thought, that's my chance to share something I do know. The only thing I was wondering, how many people are gonna show up. But half of the room was filled, my guess just over 30 people.

I was realy happy with this, and made me even more exited in giving this DEMO. I always start Artisteer with a clear Black&White template I made my self. This template is published for free on my business website, and after just 1 day about 15 downloads already. I think my presentation was a success.

But the day started with Brian Teeman about Joomla! 1.6

And as some know, I was not on the happy side when it was released. But already working with it now, and it seems oke after gettin' used to. And now Brain was able to tell us some secrets. And I was surprised with all the new stuff inside Joomla! 1.6 that did not get my attention. Thanks Brian.

One of the new features in Joomla! 1.6 is ACL, I got nauseas just looking at it. And here was Sander Potjer to tell us all about it, and even that makes sense to me now. It's not the easyest part in Joomla! but it's very powerfull if you know how to use it the right way.

These to people made me feel positve towards Joomla! 1.6 now.

I wanted to get some of my skills checked, so templating talks where the right place for me to go.

On the first day I did go to  CSS techniques by Robin Poort. He did enlighten us with some new css3 stuff that looks realy good.

Also on the first day was Peter van Westen from NoNumber, and he was gonna show us how to build a simple module an plugin. And sinds I like most of his work I was realy curious what he was gonna teach us. And WOW I think I can do that....If I find the time. I do like coding, but I don't seem to get in to it. Spoke with him the second day, and he gave me a few tips.. so who knows.

This was the first day, and I got what I wanted. This day for me was to get me like Joomla! 1.6.

On sunday I got up later so I had a bit of weekend feeling.. 08:00 was later.

Today was template day for me.

Anja Hage en Meta kruijs are showing how to use Firebug. This is a very good addon for the browser FireFox. And I know Firebug a bit, but don't realy work with it. Let's see if they made me go back to FireFox, as I am using Google Chrome now. And they have Firebug to....

And after lunch Babs Gösgens was gonna show us Construct Pro en Construct Unified, that would be a great framework to start your own work with. Clean and easy with enough features to make it good. I did love the idea with all the overrides, to bad her Apple was mess...and everything she had prepaired was lost. But we all got to see Molajo now. Tnx Babs I am gonna use Construct Pro.

These people made my weekend a success, can't wait for next year.
